Competition
Competitions will take place in venues carefully selected to provide the best possible conditions for athletes and spectators alike. Each site reflects the host country’s commitment to university sport, offering high-quality facilities in a setting designed for international events.
Competition format
Zhangjiakou 2026 FISU World University Championship Cycling (hereinafter referred to as the “Championship”) will be held in Chongli District, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, from 25 to 29 June 2026. University student-athletes from around the world will compete in 15 events across three disciplines: Road Cycling, Mountain Bike, and Athletics Field Criterium. These include five men’s individual championship events and five women’s individual championship events across Road Cycling and Mountain Bike. To promote team events, this Championship will also introduce five team demonstration events across the three course categories, serving as a trial for their possible inclusion as official events in the next edition of the Championship.

Forlong Four Seasons Town International Resort
The core venue area of the championship, serving as the start point for the Road Race and Time Trials, as well as the venue for all Mountain Bike events. It features world-class facilities, spectacular natural scenery, and highly challenging courses.

Chongli No.1 Middle School Athletics Field
Featuring a standard 400-meter track, this venue will host the Athletics Field Criterium Events. It will be the stage for the One Lap Elimination and Team Sprint, testing athletes’ explosive power and teamwork.
Training Venue
All competition venues will be open to athletes on the official training days before the competition. The detailed training schedule will be announced at the General Technical Meeting.

Technical equipment
This championship will utilize a world-class electronic timing and scoring system from leading international brands. All equipment is certified by the UCI to ensure the accuracy and fairness of the results. High-speed camera systems will be installed at the finish lines. Key technical sections of the mountain bike course will be covered by multiple cameras for broadcasting, providing clear views for officials and spectators.
Trainings
The official training days are scheduled for June 23rd and 24th. The Organizing Committee will arrange dedicated course familiarization sessions for each discipline. Delegations are requested to pay close attention to the final training schedule announced at the GTM and attend accordingly.
Other
The OC will provide secure bike storage areas and basic mechanical support services at all venues. For the specific locations of other technical facilities such as the Doping Control Station and athletes’ lounges, please refer to the venue maps.
Eligibility and Registration Data
Athletes must meet FISU eligibility requirements: they must be officially registered as students pursuing a degree or diploma at a university or similar institute recognised by the relevant national or regional academic authority, or must have obtained their degree or diploma from such an institution within the calendar year preceding the event.
Eligible athletes must be born between 1 January 2001 and 31 December 2008. Each rider must hold a valid national cycling licence issued by their national or regional cycling federation affiliated to the UCI.
Technical Rules
Athletes must use bicycles, helmets, clothing and accessories that comply with UCI regulations. Delegation uniforms must comply with FISU, UCI and event requirements.
The event will follow current FISU, UCI and event-specific rules. UCI penalties are the only applicable penalty provisions for this event. Matters not covered in official notices will be handled by the Commissaires Panel in accordance with the current UCI Cycling Sport Regulations and event notices.
- Radio communication is permitted only in the Individual Time Trial and demonstration events.
- The start order for the Individual Time Trial, number order for the Criterium, Road Race and XCO, and number allocation for XCE qualification will be determined by the Commissaires Panel and announced at the technical meeting.
- All registered riders, accompanying persons and team technical staff must be insured in accordance with UCI Regulations 1.1.006 and 1.1.022.
- Final technical information related to competition will be subject to the Team Managers’ Technical Meeting on 24 June.
Indoor Training
Indoor training equipment, including smart trainers and rollers, will be available at the Athletes’ Home on the 1st floor of Building 14. THINKRIDER instructions will be provided separately.
